How to distinguish between illusion and reality?
What are the parameters for saying something is reality?
Happiness and ecstacy are parameters for reality - If a state of existance provides for uninterrupted happiness - can this be called reality?
What is Sri Krishna telling in Gita about illusion and reality? Illusion is generated by conception of what this world is about? A personal conception of this world - The conception of this world in the mind generates action - an illusory conception generates illusory actions - mamatva buddhi towards illusory things - Vraja conception is reality - Sri Krishna is urging to give illusory conceptions of this world and surrender to the Vraja conception of service to him - This will bring in all auspiciousness to the self.

The question who am i has multi dimensions - one is what is the substance iam really made of? The other dimension is 'what am i' in relation to the environment?
From a substance perspective, we are not made of the pancabhutas - but iam spiritual substance - eternally existing blissful principle - sat chit and ananda are my real attributes
In relation to environment - Iam a dasa of Vaasudeva Sri Krishna
What is my natural real activity - service to Sri Krishna is my natural activity

Last week the movie Ravanan got released in multiple languages – Hindi, tamil, telugu. Its a ManiRatnam magnum opus scripted around the character of Ravana – the ten headed villain in Hindu epic Ramayana. In fact this is a first take on Ramayan being used as base for modern day story telling. Mani has to be credited for his creativity and for going in the direction of unexplored waters. What are these epics? Are they just stories, fables or reality? What makes them holy?

Jadananda and cidananda

Recently went on a spiritual vacation to Navadwip. Spiritual vacations are little austere to the material body. We adjust with simple accomodation and pilgrim food. This austerity helps us to be rich in cidananda or conscious pleasure. Can Jadananda and cidananda coexist? I think before going to this question we need to understand the significant difference between the two. Jadananda is the ordinary pleasures of this world. Jadananda is the feeling of happiness derived from the interaction or friction of sense objects with the senses. When there is friction between good food with the taste buds of the tongue, jadananda is generated. Similarly all material gross pleasures are born out of friction. Jadananda is of 2 types - the gross and the subtle. The subtle Jadananda is experienced when we deal emotionally by giving meaning to material identities. Ananda due to the interaction between father and daughter is one of the examples.
