bhinnavillada [without any difference] ardha [half] dēhavenisuva [considered as the body] satiyu [the wife]
kaṇṇinali [with her own eyes] nōḍalaḷammaḷu [is unable to even look] kālavashadi [when you succumb to death]

munna [In the past] shata [hundreds] kōti [of millions] rāyarugaḷu [kings] āḷida [ruled over] nelava [the land]
tannadu [it is mine] endenuta [thus claiming] shāsanava [royal edicts] baresi [having engraved]
binnaṇada [of beautiful design] mane [house] kaṭṭi [having built] kōḍe [domes] kottaḷa [fortifications] vikki [having erected]
cenniga [the beautiful person] nasuvaḷiye [the moment life breath fades] horage [outside] hākuvaru [they will throw you]

udyōga [Through employment] vyavahāra [business] nrpa [of the king] sēve [service] kushalagati [clever schemes]
kSatra tana [warfare] kaḷavu [theft] para [to others] drōhadinda [and by betrayal]
buddhiyidale [using one's intellect] gaḷisi [earned] sikkidantha [that which was acquired] arttavanu [the wealth]
satyadalli [in truth] āru [who] umbuvar [will enjoy it] hēḷu [tell me] manuja [O human being!]

shōkavanu [Grief] geyyuvaru [they will perform] sati [wife] sutaru [sons] bāndhavaru [and relatives]
jōke [the life spark] tappida [is lost] baḷīga [afterwards] arttha [all the wealth] vyarttha [becomes useless]
lōkadoLu [in this world] gaLisirda [accumulated] puNya [merits] pāpagaḷu [and sins] eraḍu [both]
sākāravāgi [taking physical shape] sankaTa [misery] bāhōdallade [will come along, nothing else]

asthirada [Of this unstable] dēhavanu [body] necci [trusting] nambira bēḍa [do not depend on it]
svasthadali [with a peaceful mind] nene [meditate upon] kaṇḍya [see here!] hari [of Lord Hari] pādava [the lotus feet]
cittadoLu [in your consciousness] suddhiyim [with absolute purity] purandara viṭṭalane [Lord Purandara Vittala alone]
uttamōttamanendu [is the highest of the high] sukhiyāgu [and attain true happiness] manuja [O human being!]
